The murders of the "God`s banker" judged
Twenty years after the death of Roberto Calvi five people have gone on trial in Rome charged in connection with the alleged murder of Italian banker.
They are accused of the alleged murder of the banker Calvi, named "God`s banker" because of his ties to Vatican.
One of them is a Sicilian mafia man, another one is a business man from Sardinia and three more men are accused of Calvi?s death in 1982. Investigators believe Calvi had stolen money from them and from the chief of the Masonic Order Luchio Gely.
According to the information the bank he was the chairman of, the Banco Ambrosiano, was on the brink of collapse and then failed.
